Master Gardener @ Arcola Public Library
September 24 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Darla Chauinard will be here to talk about fall gardens. Here is a little about her.
I grew up in Arcola and moved to Charleston when I married my husband 35 years ago.
I’ve been active in the University of Illinois Master Gardener program since 2004. Since 2004, I’ve served on many committees and have served as president in 2013 and 2014. This is my sixth year of serving as Committee Chair on the Youth Gardening Committee. I’ve been awarded the U of I State Outstanding Volunteer award and also the U of I Master Gardener Sustained Volunteer Award. I currently write a monthly “Yard and Garden” article in the JG-TC newspapers, focusing on our youth program and a variety of random gardening interests.
I’ve also served on the Coles County Soil and Water Conservation District as an Associate Director and as a Director from 2007 to 2018. While also concurrently serving on their Ag Literacy Advisory Council and The CCSWCD Foundation.
In my spare time, I work with my husband and garden at home.
