Opioid Crisis Beyond the Stigma @ Villa Grove Senior Center
September 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Many of you have heard about the opioid epidemic sweeping the nation. These drugs know no boundaries of social status, income level, education level, or where you live. This epidemic is affecting people right here in our own communities. We all hope it will not hit our family, but hope is not enough. Knowledge of this crisis is one of the most powerful ways to combat this terrible problem that is taking away our loved ones. Stacy Welch will share the story of her beautiful daughter, Shalynn, homecoming queen, band and choir student, and family girl. Since the loss of her daughter Stacy has spent many hours trying to help others so that they might not have to face the pain she has had to face. To quote Stacy “I had to learn on my own, the hard way” and she wants you to know, you are not alone.
Do you know what to look for? Do you know how to help your loved one? Do you know the resources available for them and for you? Join us Wed. September 25 at 7 pm at the Villa Grove Senior Center 610 Front Street. Along with Stacy the panel will consist of the VG first responders, a member of the state/county law enforcement drug task force, and a member from RISE Behavioral Health and Wellness.
